Sainte-Pétronille is somewhat alternative from the rest of the island. Since the 1800’s it has been a popular spot for the Anglophone community who built their villas and gardens at this tip. The land in Sainte-Pétronille was not suitable for farming and thus attracted a new stream of natives. It is cutely nestled in the beauty of the river, Quebec city in front, Levis to the left and Chutes de Montmorency to the right. Sitting on Rue de Horacio Walker watching the sunset or sunrise over the city is a must on your trip to Île d’Orléans.
Here is our Sainte-Pétronille top list:
- Café La Maison Smith
The rustic setting matched with beautiful coffee makes this a must stop for your morning coffee and pastry or lunchtime sandwich. The experienced baristas are true artists and make sure that each cup is treated with special attention. You can buy some bags of their coffee roasts to take home and enjoy! We fell in love with their mug selection too.
- Vignoble Ste-Petronille
Just across the road from Café La Maison Smith is the local vineyard. Stop in and try their variety of organic wines for just $3. Take a bottle with you or enjoy in their terrace overlooking the Chutes de Montmorency and St. Lawrence River. See the grapes on the vine up close by taking a walk through their vineyard.
